Catalan giant; Barcelona is being weighted down by debts amounting to over £1bn being owed to creditors.
The laliga side, during the prolonged 2019/2020 season, announced that it is nursing an ambition of being the first club to break the £1bn barrier for income in a single year in football. However, the dream ended up being a mere castle in the air due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the club recorded a loss of £100m for the campaign and there are concerns this season could be worse.
According to Catalonia's leading newspaper; La vanguardia, the loss, summed up with an outstanding debt of £500m and a runaway deficit amounting to £400m trows the club in a £1bn misfortune.
